God Did That

Reflections from Park Valley

My journey of history and faith collide every Sunday while sitting in the audience at Park Valley Church. I enjoy studying the great orators of American history: Abraham Lincoln, Williams Jennings Bryant, and JFK. I particularly admire this skill, which is lost in modern American politics. I imagine that’s what God had in mind when he led me to Park Valley because the pastor there, Barry White (no, not that Barry White, lol), is an excellent orator.

Great orators weave their message in and out of different stories. They use their voice like an instrument, loudly projecting to the audience and then quietly pulling them toward the stage. They deliver their message with passion, clarity, and rhythm.

Listening to Barry each week guided me to a relationship with Jesus, and each week since has helped me build a stronger relationship with Jesus. This week, Barry said something that stuck with me: “Be faithful to sharing the truth with others.”

It pierced me. I thought, am I doing that? I prayed about it and decided it was time for me to share the truth with others. In the pod, I share my story of how I was led to Jesus and how God’s love has changed my life.

If you are interested in building a relationship with Jesus, Park Valley has four campuses: Haymarket, Gainesville, Warrenton, and Manassas. In addition to Park Valley, there are wonderful churches all around filled with people who are ready to help you take the first step toward salvation.

Peace and Love,

Jeff Mayhugh
