Harris, DEI, and Patronage.

In my article out today in The Hill, I discuss Republicans calling Vice President Harris a DEI hire. Harris wasn't selected based on race, but rather patronage. Patronage exchanges political appointments and jobs in return for political support and loyalty. Hiring practices that focus on something other than qualifications and competency attract grifters for power and wealth. It's hypocritical for Republicans to attack Harris when their nominee, Trump, has plans to expand political patronage to levels not seen since the Gilded Age.
